While other companies use cheaper materials such as MDF, laminated or glue-together wood pieces, PVC or composite, we only use real 100% basswood for our custom crafted plantation shutters. Basswood has a fine grain that can be sanded to a luxurious surface. It also is porous, making it perfect to absorb the paint and stain colors of your choice.
Basswood is the material of choice for luxury shutter manufacturers. It is also lightweight, making it resistant to warping, even in more humid environments such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms.
Basswood interior plantation shutters also bring the unique elegance and class that only real wood brings. While cheaper materials may save a few dollars upfront, they simply don't last the way our luxury, custom plantation shutters do.
We also use the highest quality hinges, tilt rods and paint and stain. Every component of our shutters, from start to finish, is built to last a lifetime.
Consider the architectural style of your home - The architectural style of your home is an essential factor to consider when choosing the right combination of front doors and shutters. For instance, if your home is a traditional style, you may want to consider shutters that have a classic design and a muted color. On the other hand, if your home is modern, you may want to choose interior shutters with clean lines and a bold color.
Choose complementary colors - The color scheme of your home is another factor to consider when matching front doors and shutters. While white is the most popular shutter color, other choices include black, grey, cream and other neutral tones. We also offer custom stain matching.
Stick to a consistent style - Maintaining consistency in your home's design style, including your front doors and shutters, leads to a cohesive overall look. For instance, if your front door has a classic design, you may want to choose shutters with a similar style.
Use visual aids - We bring samples right to the comfort of your home, which allow you to better visualize the end product and make your design selections.
When one of our local Austin factory reps comes to your home, you will have the opportunity to touch and feel samples straight from our factory. You'll be able to select which size of louver you'd like, as well as hinges, tilt, whether or not you'd like to have a divider rod and other details. Wider louvers are popular where homeowners desire maximum light and views when shutters are tilted fully open. Slightly smaller louvers sometimes make more sense for smaller windows. Regardless of your choices, all of our modern, custom plantation door shutters provide beautiful aesthetics, light control, energy efficiency, and privacy.
When it comes to your trim, we go above and beyond. While other companies have only a handful of trim options, we will use the exact same trim used to build your home. Whether your home is craftsman style, modern, traditional, cottage chic or any other decor, we can guarantee that the trim will blend seamlessly in your home.
When plantation shutters are attached to your door or patio door frames, they are forever. Inexperienced installers can inadvertently leave years of frustration and annoyance in their wake. Unsightly gaps, poorly adjusted tension issues, slightly uneven hinges, problems opening and closing - we have seen it all over the years. Of course, the problem can also be in the design and construction of your shutters; when they are built in a factory, thousands of miles away, it's simply not possible to get the same result that we do right here in our Austin shutter factory.
Our team is second to none when it comes to installing plantation shutters – it's all they do, and like every member of our team, they take great pride in their work. They get it right, every time, in every home.
