Hybrid Wood Plantation Shutter Info

Hybrid Wood Plantation Shutters are constructed with a core of North American hardwood, encased in a poly wrap. This combination offers enhanced durability and resistance, particularly in areas prone to moisture or exposed to intense sunlight.


The polywrapped wood ensures that the shutters are highly resistant to warping, cracking, or fading, ensuring long-lasting performance. This feature makes them particularly suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, or rooms where moisture is prevalent.


Choose from 4 different colors to match your home. Additional features like split tilt and hidden tilt are available for increased light control and privacy.

Product Specifications

  • Maximum width for a single panel is 36”. Maximum width when a second panel is attached to the first panel (example: LLRR panel configuration) is 26” (per panel).
  • Minimum width for a single panel is 8”.
  • Minimum panel height: 16”. Maximum panel height: 114”.
  • Do not take any deductions when measuring your windows. We will manufacture your shutters with industry standard deductions (3/16” for L-Frames, 1/4” for Z Frames).
  • A divider rail is required on windows over 72” tall. 2 divider rails are required on windows over 96” tall. This is to reinforce the structure of the shutter and avoid sagging louvers.
  • If your window has a sill, we will make sure your frame is manufactured to accommodate the sill.
  • If your window has molding, you will either have to order an inside mount L-Frame or use an outside mount frame.

  • Always double check measurements
  • Ask another person to help you measure
  • Use a steel measuring tape
  • Measure to the 1/8"

  • Do you provide free estimates?

    We provide free in-home consultations, and same day estimates emailed to you, as long as you are within our service area. We cover Central Texas/Austin, as well as surrounding areas. 


  • Where can I see examples of the shutters?

    During a free in-home consultation, the factory representative will bring samples to you to show the shutters in your home. We also have a showroom located in Georgetown, Texas where you can see different configurations of the plantation shutters that we build, as well as the quality of the shutters and our installation. 

  • What kind of wood do you use?

    We use North American Basswood. All wood species used in manufacturing today have both good and bad qualities. The characteristics we like about North American Basswood is it’s stability, it does not warp! This quality is one of the factors that allow us to provide you with a lifetime transferable warranty. 

  • How long do shutters take to install?

    With all new shutter orders, our lead times range from 4-8 weeks, depending on the season and demand. The majority of installations are accomplished in one day, some larger jobs may take two days. We use only our trusted installers, not sub contractors. 

  • Can you tell me more about your installation process?

    At Southern Shutters, we are proud to have a team of top-notch professionals. Some of our installers have been with us for decades and have impressive woodworking skills. We stand by our work, which is why we offer a lifetime tranfserable warranty on all the shutters we manufacture and install.
